Category AM

Driving licence theory tests, category AM

Category AM is a moped and a light quadricycle from 14 - the lowest age threshold of any driving licence category and the first driving licence anyone can hold. Sit the full paper of 32 questions, free and without an account.

What category AM covers

Category AM entitles you to ride a moped and drive a light quadricycle. It is available from 14 and is the only category that can be obtained before your sixteenth birthday.

It is the lowest age threshold of any driving licence category in the Polish Act on Persons Driving Vehicles. Below it there are only entitlements that need no licence at all: a bicycle from 10, an electric scooter and a personal transporter from 13.

Category AM is contained in every higher category

What category AM means goes beyond mopeds. Every driving licence category - from A1 and B1, through B and C, to D and T - also covers the vehicles defined for category AM.

The practical consequence is that if a few years after turning fourteen you pass category B, the moped entitlement will already be in your licence and you will not earn it twice. Category AM makes sense when you want to ride earlier, not when you are planning a car.

What the exam material covers in category AM

The paper is built as in the other categories: 20 basic questions and 12 specialist ones, 25 minutes in total.

The specialist part covers category AM, so it deals with material specific to a moped and a light quadricycle. The basic questions on the rules of the road are largely shared across all categories.
